WHAT COUPLES NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ENGAGEMENT RINGS
Love is a new experience, which makes it all the more enjoyable. The first time a man buys a woman a diamond ring, it is a new experience and one to be remembered fondly. When a man and woman first decide to get married, they might not know that much about rings, and a little ignorance can be forgiven. But by the time the woman starts showing her engagement ring to friends and family, you better believe that youth and inexperience won't protect the groom from some heavy ring-criticism. So what is a groom to do when faced with the decision. Should I get her a pear shaped diamond engagement ring? Or should I get her a diamond heart ring? Choosing An Engagement Ring The first thing to consider when choosing an engagement ring is the shape and setting. While diamonds are the most popular shape of an engagement ring, it is not the only option. Diamonds themselves are not the only stone you can choose. Real diamonds are expensive and not everyone can afford a large diamond. In fact, some might simply enjoy other gemstones, while others prefer diamonds with surrounding gems. Beyond the type of stone, there are also other considerations such as the shape. There are engagement rings in round shapes, square, marquise, oval, pear-shaped, emerald cut, and even customizable shapes like hearts. Then there is style to consider, not only of the band itself, but also of the stones. Would one medium sized solitaire diamond suffice or would you and yours prefer a cluster of smaller diamonds? Or how about a ruby, sapphire, emerald, or opal? Men And Women's Idea Of Engagement Rings There are some differences between engagement rings for men and women. Usually the heavy shopping will be for the future bride by her suitor. Women's engagement rings can be more complex than men's. Men's engagement rings usually do not have elaborate settings, prongs, channels and other features. Men carry these rings to work (hopefully) and need a little bit of subtlety. Men's engagement rings are often simple bands gold or silver with perhaps an etching or slight alternation. Perhaps the bride to be will personally engrave a loving phrase, date or word as a symbol. However, that's not to suggest there is a shortage of fancy engagement rings for men-there are elaborate engagement rings for everybody in love and with money. When considering your first and probably final engagement ring, try and personalize it to the individual. An engagement ring should always be a personal gift and not a head-scratching formality. |
